How To Use The “Suggest Unused Plugins” Button For The Current Row

The Suggest Unused Plugins button helps you identify plugins that do not appear to be needed for the page represented by the current row. Instead of checking plugins one by one manually, Freesoul Deactivate Plugins PRO runs an automatic test and updates that row with its suggestion.

What this button does

When you click this button, FDP PRO tests the page linked to the current row and checks plugins in small batches. It compares the page output and tries to detect which plugins can be considered unused for that specific row.

The goal is to give you a faster starting point when you want to reduce the number of active plugins on a page.

This is a suggestion tool, not a blind optimization tool. You should always review the result before relying on it in production.

Where to find it

Open the relevant FDP settings page.

Locate the row you want to optimize.

Open the Action Buttons Bar for that row.

Click the button with the checked plugins icon.

Its tooltip says:

Suggest unused plugins for this row

How to use it

  1. Open the row you want to optimize.
  2. Click the Suggest Unused Plugins button.
  3. Wait while FDP PRO analyzes the page.
  4. Review the updated plugin selection in that row.
  5. Manually adjust anything that should remain active.
  6. Save the settings.

What happens during the analysis

During the process, FDP PRO tests the current page automatically and checks plugins in groups. The interface highlights plugins while they are being analyzed, so you can see that the scan is in progress.

At the end of the scan, the current row is updated with the suggested plugin state for that page.

In short, the button helps you answer this question:
Which plugins seem unnecessary for this specific row?

When this button is useful

This button is especially useful when:

  • You are optimizing a page with many active plugins
  • You do not want to test every plugin manually
  • You want a quick baseline before fine-tuning the row yourself
  • You are starting the optimization of a new row from scratch

Recommended workflow

  1. Open the row for the page you want to optimize.
  2. Run Suggest Unused Plugins.
  3. Check the resulting configuration carefully.
  4. Open a preview and verify that the page still works correctly.
  5. Save only after confirming that nothing important is missing.

Important notes

  • The button works on the current row only.
  • The process is automatic, but the result should still be reviewed manually.
  • It does not replace functional testing.
  • Some plugins may appear unnecessary in the generated output but still be required for JavaScript behavior, forms, tracking, logged-in features, AJAX actions, conditional content, or later user interactions.
  • After the suggestion is applied, you still need to save the page.

Why manual review is still important

A plugin can look unused during an automatic test and still be important in cases such as:

  • Content loaded after page load
  • JavaScript-driven widgets
  • Logged-in user features
  • Checkout, cart, form, or dynamic interactions
  • Conditional code that runs only in specific sessions or user states

For this reason, the autosuggestion should be treated as an assistant, not as a final decision maker.

Best practice

Use the Suggest Unused Plugins button to speed up your work, then always validate the result with a preview and a real test of the page behavior. This gives you the best balance between speed and safety.

Example

If a row represents a page that loads many plugins but only a few are actually needed, click the autosuggest button and let FDP PRO prepare a suggested configuration. Then review the row, test the page, and save only the final version that works as expected.
